Pizza baked on a soapstone slab in a masonry heaters black  bakeoven. Slab is pre-heated in front of the door and placed in oven when only after fire is in coal stage.  There must be a 3x3” channel left open in the back of the oven for the hot gases to go thru the oven and into the chimney.

SR-18 hybrid core with new 2011 black oven design with sliding soapstone floor.  You can slide the soapstone slabs together so that you get one large 19” wide x 15” deep baking surface.  There is still a 3”x3” channel in the back of the oven to let hot gases from fire out of the oven.  Heater must be in coal stage before you slide the stones together.

...is used to temporarily hold each piece in place until the next interlocking piece is set, tying everything together  Trailer mounted FB Professional 110 oven build. A steel band is screwed in at the base to keep pieces from moving during transport. Refractory mortar is mudded into the outside seams only.

Trailer mounted FB Professional 110 oven build.  Ceramic insulation was secured around the oven and then 3/16” flat stock steel was welded to the frame to keep oven from bouncing but still leaving room for expansion.

Slate from the taconite mines in MN and local fieldstone. - Woodhall 36”x32” Modified Allan Scott style brick bakeoven. Finished with Soapstone countertops and local fieldstone. Roof is timberframed and covered with slate roofing tiles.

Quebec style oval bake oven workshop. Sawdust was installed in the oven and then moistened with water so that it could be molded into the oval oven shape. Top ht. of dome is ~ 16”.

Quebec style oval bake oven workshop. Mortar is leveled off to the chimney to support the brick on the chimney.  Temperature sensor probes where drilled into 3 different locations and wired were run to the outside of the stucco coating.
